TuesdayPush: PutPlace.com

I have been looking for a backup solution for a while, but so far they have been to slow, to bulky (to handle) or to expensive. For me it is very important, that I can set it up in an easy way and then forget about it. I messed arount with NT Backup for a while, but got rid of it, as the configuration of backup sets and schedule plans is a PITA in itself. Also it was never really a proper backup, as my backup medium was an external HDD sitting right next to my computer in the same office. So in case of a robbery or fire it wasn’t really usefull anyway. As security measures for HDD failures I am using a RAID1 anyway, since i had a headcrash during a project years ago.
So today I heard about PutPlace.com through the TuesdayPush and had to test it straight away.I signed up to the 30-day trial period, downloaded the desktop software, chose the folders I wanted to backup and that was it… now I am waiting for my initial upload of … uhm … 5.66 GB to complete in 6 days
What I really like about it, is that it backs up my stuff in the background, so i do not have to worry about schedules and it’s done realtime.
It really looks like a great and very affordable solution and I am pretty sure, that I will sign up to the bronze package for 40,-€ / year after the 30-days trial. I will post some more info, in a few days, when the initial upload is complete.
